Whilst lying off the coast of Africa, it was Asians who first settled here so the country displays a unique mix of the two continents. It is most famous for its lemur population, a species endemic to Madagascar. From lush rainforests to arid desert to palm tree-filled tropical islands, this country has a lot more to offer than first meets the eye.

The local people are extremely welcoming and on your GIA trip you will have the opportunity to spend time getting to know them whilst helping out on various projects. You could be teaching local children English, an invaluable skill for them for their future job prospects. Or you could be involved in construction projects in local communities, helping build vital schools and facilities.
There are over 110 species of lemur in Madagascar and you will have the opportunity to spend time assisting with the lemur project here. You will also be assisting in conservation work in the mangrove forest, a vital part of the country’s ecosystem upon which many animals rely.
You will also have the chance to see amazing waterfalls, hike, visit Lokobe National park, enjoy an enchanting boat ride through sparkling turquoise waters and of course, enjoy the beautiful beaches.
