Panama lies at the base of Central America, the link to South America and famous for its canal. It’s a country with rich biodiversity, beautiful tropical islands, waterfalls galore and a quaint old town in its capital city.

Despite having a fairly strong economy and much wealth in Panama City, many areas of the country are still incredibly underdeveloped. There’s a vast contrast between rich and poor in the capital.

Your GIA project will involve assisting in a community setting, giving you the chance to get to know the local people on a personal level. You might be helping at a youth organisation, with kids’ sports or teaching in a school. With the vast expanse of rainforest here, there are also conservation programs available.
