Colombia

Colombia is an enormous country, home to the Amazon Rainforest, the Andes mountains and a world famous coffee region. Here you can hike, admire colonial architecture, take boat trips to tropical islands, see sloths and eat some of the best food South America has to offer.

Due to the wide variety of landscapes and communities in Colombia, the possibilities for your GIA trip are endless. You might be helping at a wildlife sanctuary, teaching English, assisting on a coffee farm, constructing buildings in a rural village or helping at a youth community centre in a city. Your service will benefit both the locals and give you valuable life experience.

Once your volunteering is complete, you’ll get to know even more of this fascinating country. Depending on where your project is based, you may be spending your days taking boat trips on the north coast, having a volcano mud bath and hiking in Tayrona National Park.

If based closer to the central region, you’ll enjoy a food tour of Bogotá, visit a salt cathedral, witness the tallest palm trees in the world and try your hand at salsa lessons!
